Hong Kong University of Science and Technology has ordered a Broadbent Geotechnical drum centrifuge for use in its research facilities. The centrifuge has a 2.2m diameter drum with a nominal capacity of 867 g-Tonne. The centrifuge is a twin shaft design with separate shafts for driving the drum and the tool table. The unit is also being supplied with data acquisition systems and actuators.
This geotechnical centrifuge will be one of several similar units designed and built by Broadbent in the UK based on the pioneering work of Professor Schofield at the University of Cambridge Geotechnical centre.
