Batch centrifuges
We offer a range of vertical axis basket centrifuges that are ideal for the separation of pharmaceuticals and fine or bulk chemicals. As with all Broadbent’s chemical centrifuge designs, these machines area available in a wide variety of materials. We also offer nitrogen purging and ATEX designs for use in hazardous environments.

Solid and Screen Bowl Centrifuges
Broadbent solid bowl and screen bowl decanter centrifuges are ideal for many mineral,
chemical and polymer processes.Advanced wear technology protects the centrifuge conveyor blades and discharge area and the
units regularly achieve solids outlet capacities more than 80t/h. In addition, Broadbent decanters
can be used to classify solids by discharging the fine fraction with the centrate.Key features include:
*user-friendly, advanced control technology *screen and solid bowl configurations *bowl diameter sizes from 150mm – 1400mm *sealed and pressure-tight options *state-of-the-art abrasion-resistant materials appropriate to application *for slurries 1-70% solids: particles 1 micron – 1cm *solid output from 0.1 – 100t/h dry solids *centrate output from 40 L/m to 3,500 L/m *CE, EN12547, IS09001-2008 and all relevant standards.
Divergent Decanter Centrifuge
This type of decanter is a further development of the screen bowl where separation occurs in two stages. In the first stage clarification and sedimentation take place as in a solid bowl decanter centrifuge. The second stage allows further dewatering as the solids are conveyed over a perforated screen section. The screen then diverges and allows the cake to convey more easily while the increase in diameter increases “G” on the conveyed solids further improving product dryness compared to a comparative Parallel Screen bowl.

Pilot Plant Equipment
Pilot and Laboratory Centrifuges allow complete process testing on a small scale to check and assess proposed separation systems and explore outcomes and implications. We not only supply the pilot equipment, but also offer the expertise, resources and essential process data available from our Broadbent Process Laboratory facility.
Our Process Laboratory is a unique facility allowing you to obtain valuable feasibility, performance and small scale production data allowing you to assess alternative separation techniques and expected separation performance. The 3 x Broadbent Centrifuges, Model 1200 x 3000 Gas Tight, were purchased via EPC contractor Tecnimont for the Rapid Project. These centrifuges were commissioned in 2021-22 and have been working well, giving good process performance. Broadbent have supported us in the start-up and given good technical advice during the operation.

Rafako have a long history of boiler building and FGD plant delivery throughout Europe with lots of references. We selected Broadbent for our last 5 FGD projects, based on good technology and experience.
The PGE project was a retrofit of an existing gypsum dewatering plant based on vacuum belt filter technology, replaced with 12 off large batch type centrifuges. As operation of the machines was necessary to restart of the dewatering plant the equipment changeover and re-commissioning were very critical. This supplier achieved on-target design and deliveries, including erection supervision and wet commissioning on-site. This plant was successfully handed back to PGE on-target. This experience makes [Broadbent] our supplier of choice. We would certainly recommend [Broadbent] to other users.

Regular inspection of centrifuge baskets is vital step in ensuring the safe, long-term operation of any centrifuge.
Inspection frequency varies between particular baskets and applications, but as a general rule baskets should be inspected every year and in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
It’s important that inspections are carried out by trained personnel using crack detection techniques such as dye penetrant, ultrasonic or magnetic particle inspection, depending on the basket itself.

Vibration in a Batch Sugar Centrifuge can occur for a number of reasons. They include:
• Mechanical problems
• Wear
• Poor maintenance
• Incorrect operation (particularly during feeding)
• Inadequate support structure for the centrifuge
Many vibration and instability problems arise from a poor quality product feed or badly adjusted feed speed and feed rate.
All Broadbent Batch Sugar Centrifuges are fitted with two types of sensor that are connected to the control system to provide automatic protection against vibration or instability problems damaging the centrifuge or presenting a hazard to operators.
