Batch Centrifuges
We offer a range of vertical axis basket centrifuges that are ideal for the separation of pharmaceuticals and fine or bulk chemicals. As with all Broadbent’s chemical centrifuge designs, these machines area available in a wide variety of materials. We also offer nitrogen purging and ATEX designs for use in hazardous environments.
Key features include:
- Avanced, multi-recipe PLC controls
- Electric variable-speed drive and plough system
- Capacities from 5 to 1400L
- Excellent cake washing facilities
- CIP and cGMP options for all sizes up to 1250L
- Conformity with CE regulations, EN12547, IS09001-2008 and all relevant standards
Solid and Screen Bowl Centrifuges
Broadbent solid bowl and screen bowl decanter centrifuges are ideal for many mineral,
chemical and polymer processes.
Advanced wear technology protects the centrifuge conveyor blades and discharge area and the units regularly achieve solids outlet capacities more than 80t/h. In addition, Broadbent decanters can be used to classify solids by discharging the fine fraction with the centrate.
Key features include:
- User-friendly, advanced control technology
- Screen and solid bowl configurations
- Bowl diameter sizes from 150mm – 1400mm
- Sealed and pressure-tight options
- State-of-the-art abrasion-resistant materials appropriate to application
- For slurries 1-70% solids: particles 1 micron – 1cm
- Solid output from 0.1 – 100t/h dry solids
- Centrate output from 40 L/m to 3,500 L/m *CE, EN12547, IS09001-2008 and all relevant standards.
Divergent Decanter Centrifuge
This type of decanter is a further development of the screen bowl where separation occurs in two stages. In the first stage clarification and sedimentation take place as in a solid bowl decanter centrifuge. The second stage allows further dewatering as the solids are conveyed over a perforated screen section. The screen then diverges and allows the cake to convey more easily while the increase in diameter increases “G” on the conveyed solids further improving product dryness compared to a comparative Parallel Screen bowl.
Key benefits include:
- Divergent screen reduces friction / torque
- Allows highest possible capacity (145+ metric tph), lowest moisture, highest recovery combination
- Divergent screen expands cake at increasing “G”’s for max moisture release
- May be used on the widest range of process conditions and upsets.
- Most simple and reliable Salts, Soda Ash, Potash, Coal, other Mineral or heavy Chemical centrifuge design available.
- Tungsten Bar or Heavy Plate screens and discharge ports last many years
Scientific Geotechnical & Test Centrifuges
Beam Centrifuge Systems
Beam centrifuges are the most widely used platform for geotechnical physical modelling and provide a flexible environment for both education and advanced research. Broadbent – Genesis systems range from compact machines with radii of approximately 0.5 m through to large research centrifuges of around 3 m radius, with capacities extending from approximately 2 gT to 150gT.
Modern systems can incorporate:
- Large experimental baskets and model containers
- Electrical slip-ring and rotary fluid union assemblies
- Fibre-optic communications and sensing
- Integrated data acquisition systems
- In-flight actuation and loading systems
- Specialist geotechnical instrumentation
- Model preparation and experimental accessories
This flexibility allows each centrifuge to be configured around the specific needs of the research programme, from undergraduate teaching through to complex multi-instrumented research campaigns.
Geotechnical Drum Centrifuges
Drum centrifuges provide a continuous annular bed of model material, offering a different experimental geometry from conventional beam centrifuges.
The continuous soil bed is particularly suited to studies involving long linear infrastructure, pipelines, landslides, erosion processes and repeated validation tests, where multiple experiments can potentially be undertaken within a single prepared model.
Broadbent currently offers a 2.2 m, 800gT drum centrifuge platform, providing substantial capacity for advanced research applications.
Drum centrifuge technology is also well suited to research involving:
- Pipeline and cable interaction
- Long linear infrastructure
- Landslide and ground movement
- Repeated or comparative test programmes
- Erosion and sediment transport
- Wave mechanics and wave–soil interaction
- Offshore and coastal structures
- Wave impact and scour-related processes
The combination of a continuous model bed, integrated instrumentation and specialist in-flight systems makes the drum centrifuge a powerful platform for research where spatial continuity, repeated testing or coupled soil–fluid interaction are important.
Fixed-Beam Centrifuges
Fixed-beam centrifuge systems provide controlled sustained acceleration for component and large assembly qualification. They are particularly suited to applications where the response of the complete test article under elevated body forces is important.
Inertial Rate Tables
Broadbent also provides inertial rate-table platforms for controlled rotational testing of sensors, navigation hardware and associated inertial systems. These complement centrifuge testing where precise rotational motion, angular-rate response or system evaluation is required.
Centrifuge conversions and upgrades
If your centrifuges are slow, inefficient, unreliable or less adaptable than you need, we can help bring them up to 21st century standards.
We can convert or upgrade not only our own Broadbent Centrifuges but also those supplied by other manufacturers. We improve specifications, raise performance and reliability and provide you with greater value and ROI from your existing machines.
