High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) and Ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE)
An application well known to Broadbent, HDPE & UHMWPE uses our advanced solid bowl design of decanter with mechanical seals to prevent escape of hazardous vapor to ensure safe operation. Materials of construction of components in contact with the HDPE are usually duplex & 316 stainless steels. The conveyor (scroll) is driven through a Broadbent fixed ratio high torque gearbox.
The rotating components are located in a stainless-steel case mounted on a carbon steel base frame which itself is secured to the floor through durable isolation isolators. This minimises the transmission of vibration. The main motor can be based on or off the base frame as can be the support systems for oil lubrication and mechanical seal management.
Instrument & control packages to suit our customer’s needs are available.
Certification for operation in hazardous areas is provided along with a full documentation package as required by international and local regulations.
Broadbent offers a range of diameters 750mm, 900mm and 1200mm and lengths of 3000mm depending on process throughput. Depending on decanter the maximum operating speed is 2000 rpm generating up to 1850 G of separating force.
Bisphenol A (BPA)
With a proven track record on the application, Broadbent uses screen bowl technology with mechanical seals to prevent escape of hazardous vapor for safe operation. Materials of construction are usually duplex and 316 stainless steel. The conveyor (scroll) is driven through a Broadbent fixed ratio high torque gearbox.
The screen section of the decanter allows washing and final draining of the solid resulting in low moisture levels and high solids recovery.

Broadbent offer diameters up to 1200mm & lengths of 3000mm. The typical operating speed is 1200 rpm generating approx.1000 G of separating force.
Paraxylene (PX)
A very specialist application due to the very low operation temperatures of less than -60°C, the Broadbent PX decanter centrifuge can be up to 1140mm in diameter and 3800mm in length. Incorporating a solid and screen bowl section, only stainless steels capable of maintaining their strength at such low temperatures can be used. The Broadbent design allows for movement of the bearings caused by expansion & contraction of the components in contact with the PX.

Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC)
One of Broadbent’s best-known applications, our PVC decanters use a well proven design to separate the PVC at high capacities, high recoveries & low moistures. Our design is focused on long operating period between maintenance.

Other Applications
Broadbent’s strength is high-capacity large diameter medium speed decanters. These can be manufactured in a range of materials from austenitic to duplex stainless steel and carbon steel if the process permits.
With a design team who can interpret complex specifications and design bespoke configurations of decanters to suit the application, Broadbent is the ideal centrifuge parter. Our process team have both laboratory and pilot plant sized decanter centrifuges where real operational data is needed before going into large scale production.
Broadbent is the ideal company to build prototype decanters to prove applications and then make improvements based on real operational data.
