Requiring the most resilient of decanter construction and protection, Broadbent has decanters operating on potash, coal, calcium carbonate, salt & tailings. Recently Broadbent was chosen by Thacker Pass in the USA to manufacture high-capacity decanter centrifuges for lithium extraction.
Coal
A very arduous duty, Broadbent’s coal decanters are manufactured from carbon steel and protected from erosion by a layer of protective tiles of which the application is key to long operating period between overhauls.
A unique feature of our decanters for coal is the patented divergent section which increases throughput, increases recovery & lowers moisture. This feature has the potential to make significant operational savings.
The conveyor (scroll) is driven through a large Broadbent fixed ratio high torque gearbox. Other brands of gearbox can be used if preferred.
The rotating components are located in a carbon steel case, also fitted with protective tiles, mounted on a robust carbon steel base frame which itself is secured to the floor through heavy duty isolators. This minimises the transmission of vibration. The main motor is located on the base frame as can be the support systems for oil lubrication. .

Certification for safe operation is provided along with a full documentation package as required by international and local regulations.
The typical operating speed is up to 1200 rpm generating approx.900 G of separating force.
