High-g testing for complete systems and critical hardware

Broadbent provides a range of centrifuge and inertial test platforms for defence, aerospace and inertial-system applications, supporting both small precision packages and larger integrated assemblies. Systems can reproduce controlled acceleration profiles representative of launch, flight and other high-g operating environments, allowing complete test articles to be evaluated under realistic inertial loading.

Test the complete assembly

Centrifuge testing increases the apparent self-weight of every component within the test article simultaneously. This allows engineers to investigate stresses and load paths across the complete assembly, rather than applying a force only through a single fixture or contact point.

Typical test articles can include:

  • Accelerometers and inertial sensors
  • Inertial Measurement Units and navigation packages
  • Guidance and control electronics
  • Integrated electro-mechanical assemblies
  • Aerospace instrumentation and flight hardware
  • Structural and electronic subassemblies
  • Large or unusually shaped Units Under Test
Acceleration environments

Broadbent systems can be configured to apply progressive and sustained acceleration profiles, enabling test programmes that represent the increasing inertial loads associated with launch and other demanding aerospace trajectories.

For larger systems, the combination of high payload capacity, generous test volume and sustained acceleration enables complete assemblies to be tested together with their supporting mechanical, electrical and instrumentation systems.

Fixed-Beam Centrifuges

Fixed-beam centrifuge systems provide controlled sustained acceleration for component and large assembly qualification. They are particularly suited to applications where the response of the complete test article under elevated body forces is important.

Inertial Rate Tables

Broadbent also provides inertial rate-table platforms for controlled rotational testing of sensors, navigation hardware and associated inertial systems. These complement centrifuge testing where precise rotational motion, angular-rate response or system evaluation is required.
